fabric/que - Trajectories at Sala Rossa part of Codes d’Accès 2024-25 Programming

fabric/que brings together works with very different aesthetics and instrumentations, but which have been inspired by a common preoccupation: what constitutes us, what elements from the past or our environment influence our individual or collective construction? The melodic material for Philippe Macnab-Séguin's Stained Glass, Caustic Fly is derived from Gregorian chant, the legacy of a religion with a complex history in Quebec. Lily Koslow's Mycelia refers to the underground root network created by fungi, which plays a crucial role in the ecosystem. Gabo Champagne's Hui, heur, nuit takes us back into his childhood memories to trace the traces of his evolution into adulthood. The Trajectories collective will perform four tracks from their album Blood & Breath, produced during the pandemic in 2020-2021, recounting both the isolation and resilience that characterized this troubling and transformative period.

Live on Kökar, Åland, Finland - Trajectories & Kristianstrand @ Hembygdsmuseum Stensalen

We’re performing our first international Trajectories set in Kökar, Åland, Finland with 3/4 members Connor Cook, Malte Leander, and myself. We’ll be sharing some new sounds that have been developed throughout our residency here!! I'm beyond excited!! We're super lucky to have very randomly met Erik Strand (Kristianstrand), who works at the post office/pharmacy/bank on the island! We were purchasing postcards and got into conversation about our residency stay. It was revealed to us that he is most likely the only ambient music producer on Kökar. Fate is with us!

Pallmer opens for Daniel Lanois at Harvest Music Festival

On September 12th I had the wonderful opportunity to perform at the Fredericton Playhouse, part of Harvest Music Festival, with my fellow collaborators Emily Kennedy and Mark Kleyn in Pallmer, a chamber-pop group from Fredericton, NB. We were honoured to open for the legendary Daniel Lanois who was dropping in to the festival as part of a few east coast dates before heading back west. It was a beautiful show filled with many memories and sweet folks, including the dedicated crew at the Fredericton Playhouse who’s hard work made this show the great event it turned out to be. We in Pallmer were flattered by the warm response from the folks who came to see the show, which helped to quell the anxiety we all had leading up to this event. We performed all of the songs from the upcoming Pallmer release Swimming (set to release in January 2024), which has been our repertoire throughout this past summer of touring. We were very to have had a whole summer to prepare for this show and will never forget this lovely experience.

Prisma III Performance by Charles Harding & Malte Leander - Live Video @ Nuit blanche 2023

My dear friend and collaborator Malte Leander and I performed as part of Eastern Bloc’s showcase at Nuit blanche à Montréal. It was a beautiful experience filled with sound loving people and prismatic lights and shapes.

Composed by Malte Leander & Charles Harding

Mastered by Charles Harding

Prisma is a live improv soundscape set prepared for a special performance at a Nuit blanche Montréal event like-named PRISMA on February 25, 2023, hosted by Eastern Bloc and WIP.

The set was arranged to share varying biomes and sonic memories documented by the 2 composers throughout the past few years. Subtle synth textures are layered throughout the performance to alter the perceptual experience of the field recordings as well as to inspire thoughts of strange prismatic settings in time and space. Sonic spaces and temporal stamps resembling the colors formed by refraction of light through a prism.

Huge thanks to Eastern Bloc for providing us the facilities and equipment to rehearse and prepare the performance.
