Greville Tapes Music Club Season 3 Music Release and NB/NS Mini-tour

I'm so filled with gratitude and joy following a concert series celebrating the latest season of The Greville Tapes Music Club featuring some absolutely incredible music-making folks! I had the pleasure of collaborating with my friends in Pallmer and Keeper E. last August to create 3 new pieces of music on a compilation that also includes DenMother, Dumpster Cub, Wolf Castle, and The Olympic Symphonium. Over several days in the middle of April we all played shows across the maritimes to showcase a beautiful spirit of creation and collaboration, facilitated by the kindest of people. It was so lovely to meet new friends and make incredible to new memories at these shows!

Concerts:

April 12 - Saint John, NB - Haven Music Hall & Cafe
April 13 - Fredericton, NB - Charlotte Street Arts Centre
April 14 - Halifax, NS - The Carleton

Below are some words from a previous post describing the week of creating this music:

Between August 13-18, 2023 we in Pallmer travelled out to Port Greville, Nova Scotia to participate in the Port Greville Tapes Music Club, a song writing residency in which artists are paired to collaborate on several pieces of music. We were lucky to be matched up with a really great pop musician from Halifax called Keeper E. Throughout our stay we managed to compose and record 3 pieces of new music that managed to capture our combined sounds in very balanced and cohesive ways. Through the generosity of the wonderful hosts/organizers we were provided with meals, drinks, good times, laughter, recording technician assistance, photography, and video documentation, allowing to focus completely on the creative process for several days.

Huge thanks to the wonderful amazing people who invited us and put this whole thing together:
Peter Rowan (project leader), Corey Bonnevie/Monopolized Records (recording, mixing, mastering), Abigail Smith/Haven Music Hall (project assistant), Sidney Foy/Haven Music Hall (project assistant), Colleen Collins (host), Chris Giles (video)

Keeper E.

Steeped in unease and constructed in an unprecedented time, Keeper E.’s new collection of songs comprises a portrait of an anxious existence that’s as deeply worried as it is catchy against all odds.

On thank u and please and don’t go, the follow-up to her award-winning debut The Sparrows All Find Food, Adelle Elwood again retreated to her Halifax bedroom to compose, engineer, and produce the record herself, a Billie Eilish who doesn’t need a Finneas. The resulting seven songs build on Sparrows’ strong foundation of melody and beats, expanding its medium-fidelity pop into something more robust, anchored by deeper and more intricate drums and sweetened with counter-harmonies and refrains.

Haven Music Hall

A couple of the organizers of this residency, Sidney Foy and Abigail Smith, own a beautiful new concert venue in Saint John called Haven Music Hall!

Haven Music Hall is a new small music venue, cafe, and bar in Saint John, New Brunswick. Located in the heart of the city on Union Street, Haven is committed to providing a professional experience to performing artists, a safer show-going environment to audiences, and a creative hub for the local music community. Haven is run by best friends and live music lovers Sidney Foy and Abigail Smith.
